Jan 11 Icheon World Ceramic Center Tour

Hi everyone,
Have you always wondered how to make a ceramic( china)? If you haven’t tried before you will learn how Koreans make their ceramics. We are going to explore the city of Icheon (It should not be confused with the much larger Incheon Metropolitan City).
Icheon is known as a center of South Korean ceramic manufacturing and is a UNESCO City of Crafts and Folk Art. Other famous local products include peaches and rice.
We will both have a chance to see the magnifienct ceramic disply and enjoy eating Icheon rice. You can also buy some ceramic for your suvenior or as a gift from Korea.

The place we are going to visit is called Cerapia. The Cerapia (Icheon World Ceramic Center) is an exhibition center of contemporary ceramic works that is run by the World Ceramic Exposition Foundation. The Ceramic Center has three permanent exhibition halls which feature around 500 contemporary ceramic works by Korean and foreign artists; and one special exhibition hall which features works done for the World Ceramic Biennale International Ceramic Workshop event.

Seolbong Park, where the Ceramic Center is located, is a comprehensive tourist location. It includes Mt. Seolbong, Seolbong Lake, and the Sports and Recreation Park. Nearby tourist attractions include the Haegang Ceramics Museum, Icheon Hot Springs, Icheon Ceramic Village, and Icheon City Museum.

Seolbong Park is a pleasant resting area that includes a walking path around a wide lake in the middle of the park, a traditional garden and a traditional palanquin.
Visitors can take part in caramic making programs at a reasonable price with a professional instructor at the Ceramic Experience Hall which is located near the World Ceramic Center. Fee is between 10,000- 20,000 won.
